Training Wednesday: Bouncing Back From Dissapointment

Fitness No Comments

For this weeks’ training Wednesday post, I wanted to share an article from USA Triathlon on How to Bounce Back from Disappointment.

Training is almost as much mental as it is physical, especially in a sport as demanding as Triathlon.  How you respond to times when things don’t go your way can be the difference between success and failure.

According to Cheryl D. Hart who penned the article, “Competitors who respond to adversity more optimistically tend to be more aggressive and take more risks than those who react with pessimism and helplessness. Triathletes who take a positive approach when facing undesirable situations are more apt to maintain the energy, focus and vigor needed to compete successfully or to cross the finish.”

So next time things aren’t going to plan mid-race, how will you react?

H2O Audio Ambassador Triathlete, Laura Bennett

After years of training, sometimes it’s good to take a step back and evaluate your workouts.  But, if you’re not able to compete on a regular basis, how do you decide if what you’re doing is working?

One way is to measure your athletic ability.  There are a few common ways to find out how your fitness level measures up against others, and some don’t even require any equipment.

Another hot topic in the workout world right now is stretching.  Most of the time articles tout the benefits of stretching and yoga, however some do wonder if stretching is doing any good?  Read for yourself and see what you think.
