Slater Trout and the brand new Amphibx Fit Armband

Things are pretty quiet with Team H2O Audio starting off the new year, everyone is training hard trying to make 2011 even better than 2010.

The youngest of our ambassadors, Stand Up Paddler Slater Trout, had some extra time to do a quick interview with Standup Paddler Magazine about his plans for this year and beyond.

Training Wednesday: Cold, so what? Get out there!

Does this make your workout look warm?

Today’s training Wednesday post falls in the motivational category.

Short dark days and cold weather tends to throw a wrench into a lot of our training plans.  However, I know  a lot of you still get out there and brave the weather (or suffer the mind numbing boredom indoor on the treadmill or bike trainer) to get your endorphin fix.

One of these hearty characters is our own Jay Kincaid, who literally drags his SUP paddle through ice and snow, to get his workout in.

We’re all about helping you stay motivated to be your best, that’s why we work so hard to deliver truly functional waterproof music solutions for all sports.  And today, if you’re having trouble getting all bundled up to head outside, read Jay’s blog post, grab your Waterproof Headphones and get going!

Tony Besson's Tough Mudder Race Uniform

On Team Tuesday we  usually update you on what Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin and our Ambassador Athletes are up to, but Team H2O Audio is much larger than just the Olympians.  We have almost 300 athletes who swim, ride, race and compete in many different sports around the world.

Recently, we’ve been getting updates from our friends at Ironheart Racing.  Growing from 5 to over 60 triathletes just in this year, David Watkins started Ironheart Racing as a support team for triathletes overcoming congenital heart defects.  After having open heart surgery to entirely replace a valve in his heart, David set a goal to complete an Ironman triathlon, and did it!  Last week he finished the Ironman in Panama City Beach Florida in just over 15 hours, and used our gear to help himself get there.  We’re so proud!

Also a great story from this past week, actor Tony Besson, most known for his role in Spiderman 3, ran the grueling Tough Mudder race in New Jersey with a little help from H2O Audio.  Just proves that not only is our gear waterproof, but mudproof too!

Thursday Grab Bag: Recycle Raft

Team H2O Audio Kayaker Garrett aboard his recycle raft.

As surfers, swimmers, and athletes in general, we tend to spend more time outdoors than most people, which means the health of our environment and planet is important to us.  We recycle everything we can in our office, but one of our Team H2O Audio Kayakers took recycling to a whole new level.  While working as an instructor in Pennsylvania for the summer, Garett Scott took on an extra project.  He constructed a raft using 100% recycled materials, successfully piloted it down river and then broke everything down and put it back to use.  Read more about Garrett’s mission, and why he took it on, in his blog.

We’re glad our waterproof headphones and cases kept Garrett rockin’ out while he was recycling and that his project was a success!

H2O Riders, Laura Bennett, Slater Trout No Comments

With a few weeks of serious competition under their belt, Team H2O Audio is taking some time for rest and technical training.

Team H2O Audio paddler Slater Trout took a few minutes during his downtime in New York to put together a video for us.  He and his friend Ryan did a great job!

H2O Audio Ambassador Triathlete Laura Bennett had to bow out of her last race due to a sore throat, but she’s still been in the news with a featured interview on the Universal Sports website.

And last, but certainly not least, H2O Audio ultra-swimmer Bruckner Chase successfully finished his 25-mile swim across Monterey Bay.  He was aiming to complete the entire swim without a wetsuit, but after battling through thick clouds of jelly fish his wife made the call that it was put on the wetsuit or stop.  It was a good move as he encountered the thickest populations of jellys close to shore and suffered many stings on his hands and face.  We’re so glad he made it through safely!
