For swimming, I was terrible at soccer as a grade schooler. My parents threw me in the pool thinking it would be good for my ADHD and after 4 years of mediocre swim performances, in the 8thgrade I had a breakout swim where I dropped 6 seconds in the 100 back, earning my first Junior Olympic time. I went on to become an All American in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle my Senior year of High School. I also secured a 4 year scholarship at BYU for swimming where I specialized in backstroke and distance freestyle. For Triathlon, my wife dared me to do a triathlon in 2019. I entered the Fountain Valley Reverse Sprint triathlon where I fell off my bike in transition and then proceeded to pass 15 people over a 175yd distance to finish off the race. Since then, I have competed in dozens of races and pride myself in being usually first out of the water, no matter what place I end up after the bike and run. I have needed competition as a push to keep me active as a father and Triathlon gives me a great challenge.
